Youths arrested in Stamullen robbery investigation

Five youths, one of whom was just 12 years old, were arrested yesterday afternoon by Gardai investigating the robbery of four young people at knife point in Stamullen. At around 3pm Gardai from the Ashbourne District were engaged in additional patrols under Operation Thor when they responded to a call that four young people had been robbed at knife point by a group of youths in Stamullen village.

 A search of the area resulted in the arrest of five youths for robbery. A quantity of cash stolen in the robbery and a knife were recovered. The five youths were detained in Ashbourne Station where they were interviewed in the presence of their parents. One of the youths was aged 12 ,and the others were between 14 and 15 years ,and all are from the Balbriggan area. All five youths will be considered under the provisions of the Garda Youth Diversion Scheme.
