WATCH Shire construction workers have the most luxurious site office in Ireland

The Peters home at Piercetown, Dunboyne, was a landmark property for many years for anyone travelling the N3 from Meath to Dublin. Known as the 'Eat the Peach' house because the film was part made there in the 1980s, it is to be demolished as part of the Shire development, and is currently operating as one of the most glamorous site offices in the country!

South county Meath, around the outskirts of Dunboyne and Clonee villages, is currently a hive of activity. Hundreds of construction workers are busy on the development of the Shire pharmaceutical plant outside Dunboyne, as well as the Facebook facility outside Clonee. This, combined with this week's opening of the Avoca food and retail emporium at Piercetown, between the two, complementing the existing Kilsaran showrooms and display garden design centre beside it, is rapidly changing the landscape of the area along the old N3. It looks even more stunning from the air.

US pharamaceutical firm, Shire, is constructing a state of the art biologics manufacturing campus, which it expects will lead to the creation of approximately 400 permanent jobs on a 120 acre site at Piercetown. The site is expected to be operational by mid-2019.
Shire plc plans to expand its global biotechnology manufacturing capacity by investing US$400 million in Ireland to meet the rapidly growing demand for its highly innovative products and robust pipeline.
Shire’s CEO, Flemming Ornskov, explained: “Increasing our biologics manufacturing capability is fundamental to achieving our ambition of becoming the world’s leading biotechnology company focused on rare diseases and other speciality conditions. The expansion will enable us to meet increasing product demands, support our pipeline and, ultimately, help more patients. The new campus in county Meath will provide necessary geographic diversification and will help us serve our growing international business.”
