The late Lorna Carty.

Book of condolences for lorna carty

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), as a further mark of respect to longstanding member Lorna Carty, has opened an online Book of Condolence for members to express their sympathy to Ms Carty’s husband, children and wider family.

Ms Carty, a loyal and longstanding member of this organisation, was one of the three Irish people killed, so tragically and needlessly, last Friday in Tunisia.

The organisation also extended sympathies to the family and friends, of Larry and Martina Hayes (Athlone), who also lost their lives in this terrible incident. The organisation also wishes to extend its deepest sympathy to all of members, in our Meath Branch, many of whom knew Ms Carty through her work and membership.

The Church of Ireland Bishop of Meath and Kildare has expressed condolences to all those who have been caught up in the hotel shootings in Tunisia.

Bishop Pat Storey said: 'On behalf of the Church of Ireland community in my diocese I wish to express our shock as news of the terrible events in Tunisia become clearer. Our diocesan family will hold the families of the bereaved and injured in our prayers'. She continued, 'We feel this loss all the more keenly as it appears some of the victims are from our own locality. Our thoughts and prayers are with those, especially our neighbours, who have been plunged into such pain and distress by this cruel attack on human life'.
