Nicola, Ena and Darren Souhan celebrate the Lotto ticket sale in Trim at the weekend.

Family collect 10 million lotto jackpot

A delighted family syndicate of two from  Meath travelled to National Lottery offices in Dublin today to claim their Lotto fortune of €10,650,121. The lucky winners won the huge jackpot last Easter Saturday, 4th April 2015, after buying a lucky €4 Quick Pick in Trim.

“Don’t forget to buy a Lotto ticket, it’s a rollover! That was the reminder I got last Saturday before I went out to get some shopping. I might never have bought the ticket if it wasn’t for that!” said one of the lucky winners who thanked the other winner for the reminder.

The ticket was bought in Souhan’s Filling Station, Haggard Street, Trim.

“I was watching Match of the Day that evening and thought, I better check that ticket, so I looked up the results on Teletext. I just could believe it! I looked up at the numbers and down at the ticket, over and over and over again,” they continued.

“That night it was all rolling around in my head and I couldn’t sleep but since then I’ve been buzzing!”

The two winners celebrated with a glass of champagne and spoke of their plans:

“We’ll help out our family, pay off our mortgages, get a new car or two, but most of all, we intend to enjoy it. We’re just so happy. It feels like life has just begun and the possibilities are endless,” they smiled.

The winners have decided to remain private.

This is the second Lotto jackpot to be won this year. Last month, a syndicate of two from Newbridge, Co. Kildare collected their jackpot prize of €10,230,559, which they won on 5 February 2015.

Last Wednesday, 8th April 2015, the Lotto jackpot was won again. A lucky player who bought their ticket on the National Lottery’s website, lottery.ie won the €2 million Lotto jackpot prize. That same evening, the top prizes in the Lotto Plus games were also won. A ticketholder who bought their ticket in Carry Out, Lismore Park, Waterford, won the €350,000 Lotto Plus 1 top prize; and a ticket bought in Ticketron, Jervis Street Shopping Centre in Dublin 1 won the Lotto Plus 2 top prize of €250,000. All three prizes have yet to be claimed.
