Scurlogstown Olympiad's Haymaking Festival was one of the local festivals which was funded last year.

Apply now for community tourism funding

Applications for funding are being sought under the Community Tourism Initiative for the Diaspora by Meath County Council.

The deadline is this Friday, 3rd April.

The initiative, launched last year, builds on the community involvement legacy of The Gathering 2013 and is a joint partnership between Meath County Council, IPB Insurance and Fáilte Ireland.

Now in its second year, the scheme provides a national fund of €1m to support local community-based events and festivals each year.

Last year, 19 local events were supported in Meath, attracting up to 1,131 visitors from overseas. The festivals funded last year included the Boyne Valley Garden Trail, Dunboyne Consort, Scurlogstown Olympiad, the Spirit of Folk Festival in Dunderry and the Duleek Fair Day.

Administered locally by Meath County Council, the application process for 2015 will close on 3rd April. Interested parties are advised to contact Meath County Council, Disapora Funding, Railway Street, Navan, County Meath, or Mary Duff on (046) 9097066 or download the application form at Meath.ie.
