Oldcastle house hotel reopens with 50 job boost

Oldcastle House Hotel re-opened its doors this week, bringing a 50-job boost to the North Meath town.

Originally the well-known Lynch's Ceili House Bar, a busy, successful bar for many years in its own right before it was rebuilt as the Oldcastle House Hotel in 2004. This much-loved premises has now been restored and tastefully brought back to life, designed by the new proprietors, which includes the main bar being fully restored on the ground level of this contemporary and stunning building.

The core of the Oldcastle House Hotel is the second level with its stunning Ruby Ballroom with warm atmospheric lighting, panelling and rich colours. The Castle Bar on the ground floor has a dramatic feel about it with a warm open fire and the new Knights late night venue located at the rear of the ground floor which is much more than just a nightclub. The restaurant is also undergoing a full refurbishment and will re-open as The Bastion Restaurant in the coming weeks, in time for Christmas. There is live, nightly music sessions in the bar and live bands every weekend in Knights with award winning DJs after.

'We are delighted to bring new employment to the area and reopen this fabulous hotel to the people in Oldcastle,' says manager, Keith Doyle.

The food will be under the guidance of Dublin man Killian O’Donoghue, former executive head chef at The Station House Hotel, Kilmessan. Bar food is served daily in the Castle Bar with the new restaurant coming on stream in a number of weeks.

We are excited to be here,” says  Killian O’Donnoughe, “and with the work that has been done to The Oldcastle House Hotel, it will be a real asset to the area. Having genuine, home-made elements to our menu underlines our philosophy of ticking all the boxes of a welcoming traditional restaurant.”

'I like to think of the Oldcastle House Hotel as somewhere for the locals to think of as a meeting point, somewhere where your family gatherings can be held and all those special events in peoples lives like weddings,' Keith Doyle says.

'Somewhere you can lose yourself for a few hours a day with a lovely glass of wine and a good book and of course somewhere to dance the night away at Knights Venue.'
