Egyptian adventure for navan artist

A Navan woman will be travelling to Egypt later this month to create giant puppets which will be used in a colourful parade.
Kay McCabe, an artist and youth worker with the Involve Youth Project at the Meath Travellers’ Workshop has been asked to attend the International Puppet Festival in Alexandria in Egypt from 19th-24th October.
She was successfully chosen by their panel of judges and has been selected as Irelands only participant.
With over 22 countries and 35 teams taking part, this will be a fantastic opportunity to put Meath Giant Puppets on the map internationally.
Xthratherm on the Kells Road is sponsoring her flights to Egypt.
It is a week long festival which ends with a street performance.
Kay hopes to create something around a ‘Banshee’ for the festival, depending on what materials are available to her when she arrives.
Kay has a degree in art and undertakes a lot of art work with the young people she works with in the Involve project.
