GAA members to drive through every county for cancer society

Challenge 24/32 is an exciting challenge been undertaken by four members of a GAA club in North Roscommon. The challenge is to drive through the 32 counties of Ireland in 24 hours. The venture will begin in Kilmore, Co Roscommon on Friday 25th October at 11pm and will hopefully end in Kilmore before 11pm on Saturday 26th of October. All money raised from the challenge will go to the Irish Cancer Society. In each county the team hope to meet with a politician or a GAA player who will present the team with a flag from that county.

Brian Carroll

Brian Carroll is the current chairman of Kilmore GAA club and is also Chairman of the Roscommon GAA Supporters club. Brian is currently a member of An Garda Siochana stationed in Granard in Co Longford. Brian has been involved for a number of years with his local club and is also a current member of the backroom team with Roscommon senior football team. Brian has said that many families and friends of his have been affected by Cancer and he felt it was an opportunity to give something back to charity by doing this challenge.
 
Clare Caslin

Clare Caslin is the current assistant secretary of Kilmore GAA and is also the former secretary of the club. Clare is also secretary of the highly successful Elphin show. Clare is a national school teacher teaching at Annaduff school in Co Leitrim. Clare has said that she is delighted to be able to do this challenge to help out the Irish Cancer Society as she has witnessed the devastation that cancer can bring to a neighbourhood.
 
Gary Vesey

Gary Vesey is the current treasurer of Kilmore GAA club and has also been involved with coaching teams over the last few years in the club. Gary is a medical nurse working at Sligo General hospital. Gary has said he is delighted to do this challenge and raise funds so the Irish Cancer Society can help out the lives of so many people who have been affected by cancer.
 
Trevor Hunt

Trevor Hunt is a member of the finance Committee of Kilmore GAA club and is an active member of all fundraising ventures taking place in the club over the past number of years. Trevor is also involved with foroige in the parish as well as the parish council. As a member of his own family is currently affected by the disease, Trevor is honoured to help the Irish Cancer Society in any way he can.  
 
 
The Challenge 24/32 team are currently in talks with a high profile car sales company who it is hoped will be the official sponsor of the car for the weekend. The Challenge 24/32 team are also in talks with numerous people in connection to individual sponsorship for the day of the challenge.
 
The Challenge 24/32 is also been run in conjunction with an 'Move more, Eat Less' health challenge been ran by Kilmore GAA club in the parish for the 8 weeks building up to the 25th of October. The 1st weigh in and talk takes place on Tuesday 3rd September at 8pm in Kilmore GAA clubrooms. The challenge is to loose 32 stone as a group in the parish, one stone for every county that the 24/32 challenge team will be travelling.
