Meath to get first female county manager

A Meath native and current county manager with Leitrim County Council is expected to become the first woman manager of Meath County Council.
The Public Appointments Service is believed to have recommended the appointment of Jackie Maguire, a native of Trim, as the new manager. She had held the positions of director of services and head of finance with Meath County Council and left the council in 2006 to take up a position as manager in Leitrim. She started her career with Meath County Council in 1981.
She will replace Brendan McGrath who had held the position of interim county manager in Meath folowing the retirement of former manager Tom Dowling. Mr McGrath has been recommended by the appointments service for the position of city manager in Galway.
Danny McLoughlin, a former area manager with Slane Electoral Area of Meath County Council, has been recommended for the position of county manager with South County Dublin Council. He is a native of North Roscommon and had been manager in Leitrim before going to Westmeath as county manager.
