Multicultural award for Athboy youths

Athboy No Name! Club won the 'Health Promotion & Environment' category of the Multicultural Young Peoples Awards 2012 in Chartered Accountant House, Pearse Street. Mrs Yemisi Ojo, CEO, explained: 'The aim of these annual awards is to recognise the dedication of young people in making strides towards positively promoting integration and cultural awareness amongst both newer and more established communities in Irish society'. Athboy NNC caters for teens aged 15 to 19 years. Members are of mixed gender and nationalities are Irish, French,Lithuanian and South African. The Award recognises the health related activities undertaken which encourage both physical and mental well being together with the attendance at the Health Promotion Seminars and Conferences organised by National No Name. The successful completion of a number of environmental enhancement projects also impressed the judges. Club members Mary Weston and Eric Bakekolo accepted the Trophy from Dr Ireti and each of the 12 club members were also presented with Individual Framed Certificates in recognition of their work.
