Fine Gael Deputy Damien English and Cllr Willie Carey met with representatives from Bus Éireann last week to advance the need for two additional bus stops in Enfield.
Both public representatives say they have received numerous requests from residents in the town on the issue over the past couple of months.
Currently, there are two bus stops at either end of the town - one for Dublin-bound buses and one for Galway-bound services. The Fine Gael representatives have said the need for additional stops is without doubt.
Deputy English said: "Providing the two bus stops across the road from each of the current stops is a commonsense approach that will go a long way in making public transport access easier in the town. We are grateful to local residents who raised this issue with us," he said.
Cllr Carey said he is looking forward to moving this necessary project forward over the coming months and getting over any bureaucratic hurdles in the way.
"I believe that all people in Enfield will benefit from this, especially the elderly who will be nearer to bus stops at either end of the town," he said.
Deputy English and Cllr Carey met with Lynn Cullen from Bus Áras and Derek Owens from Bus Éireann where they also raised the issue of bus services in the south Meath area.
