Luke Comer the man behind the new sponsorship deal for Meath football teams.

Meath GAA ventured into the west to source their new football sponsor - well sort of.

The Comer Group was unveiled as the sponsor to replace the Menolly Group at tonight's Co Board meeting in Navan.

Galway native Luke Comer, a long-time resident in Dunboyne, has taken over the mantle of Meath team sponsor.

It is understood that Meath declined the suggestion to change the colours to maroon and white and the team will continue to play in green and gold.

"I'm delighted to announce that we have sourced a new sponsor in very difficult economic times," Meath Co Board treasurer Pat Clerkin told delegates at the monthly meeting.

Queries from the floor regarding the value of the sponsorship, which will run for two years, drew a blank on the scoreboard.

See this week's edition for more details including an interview with the new sponsor.
