Culture Night events in Meath

Friday 22nd September is Culture Night, with a number of locations across Meath hosting events.

Boyne Berries 22, The Ledwidge Issue, launching at  8pm in the Castle Arch Hotel, Trim,  by Meath County librarian, Ciaran Mangan. This issue of Boyne Berries is a special issue commemorating the centenary of the death of the poet Francis Ledwidge and will be available for €10.
Many of the included writers will read from the journal. Entry t is free and tea and coffee will be served. 
 

Comhaltas Tlaghta  seisiún in the back room of St James' Hall , Athboy, 7pm.       

 

Slane Craft Collective live demonstrations in a variety of crafts - meet the makers or have a go! 6pm-9pm.

 

Oldcastle Masonic Hall Tour of Lodge Room, 7pm. Lecture on the History of Freemasonry in Co Meath and Oldcastle by Provincial Grand Archivist, Eugene Markey Questions and Answers session. Refreshments will be served.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann -  Traditional  Music, Song and Dance at Navan  Community  Centre , St Mary’s Church grounds, Trimgate St, 7.30pm  -  9.30 pm    All  Welcome  -  Bring your instruments and dancing shoes.
 

Leabharlann Ath Buí/Athboy Library, 8pm-9.30pm


Scríbhneoir agus léirmheastóir is ea Liam Mac Cóil. Tá leabhair, ailt agus aistí scríofa aige faoi chúrsaí litríochta, staire, ceoil, ealaíon agus teilifíse.  Ba  é an t-Athar Eoghan Ó Ghramhnaigh an mairtíreach ba mhó riamh ag Conradh na Gaeilge agus chuir siad a bhás, agus aistriú a choirp abhaile ó Mheiriceá, chun lántairbhe do chúis na teanga. Bhí curtha ar fáil aige na leabhairíní ba mhó a chabhraigh ní hamháin le foghlaimeoirí ach leis na Gaeilgeoirí a bhí ag iarraidh scríobh agus léamh a fhoghlaim, na Simple Lessons úd. 

Writer and critic Liam Mac Cóil delivers a lecture about an tAthair Eoghan Ó Ghramhnaigh, Conradh na Gaeilge’s greatest martyr, who hailed from Athboy. His ‘Simple Lessons in Irish’ inspired up to 250,000 people to learn Irish.

Ionad Pobail Druim Conrach/Drumcondra Community Centre.         
 

An Bradán Feasa, Ráth Chairn. 8.30pm - 11pm. Oíche Shiamsaíochta Ráth Chairn Ceol, damhsa agus amhránaíocht ar an sean-nós, scéalaíocht. Music, song, dance and storytelling.

Soltice Arts Centre, 7pm– 10.30pm.

What To Bring When We Leave is a collaborative commission culminating in a unique live performance by Tom French (words) & Danny Diamond (fiddle/electronics).
