Lughnasa walking tour of Tara
Hill of Tara, Navan.
Sunday 4th August

This is a two-hour guided walking tour of Tara, including history and archaeology and focusing on myths and legends and connecting with the land through nature, the elements and the archetypal energies of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Strictly for the over 8s, it starts at 2pm and finishes at 4pm.

The tour is limited to 30 people and costs €15 per person (plus booking fee) from eventbrite.ie

Sunday 4th August

Virginia Triathlon and Cycling Club's annual sprint triathlon and duathlon returns with competitors tackling a 750 meter swim, 20k bike, 5k run or 3k run, 20k bike, 5k run in and around Lough Ramor.

Sprint Triathlon €40 euro individual and €75 euro relay, duathlon €25 euro individual and €40 euro relay and the first 150 registrations receive a t-shirt.  All competitors will be awarded medals.  From 10am.

Twins go FREE to Tayto Park this Saturday

Kilbrew, Ashbourne, Co Meath

Tayto Park offers a great family day out thanks to a theme park choc full of an array of rides and playgrounds to suit children of all ages.  Bear in mind there are minimum and maximum height restrictions on some of the bigger rides and some attractions are seasonal. This Saturday, twins go FREE. Details here!

There is also quite a large zoo with mammals ranging from tigers to monkeys and birds and a farmyard section.  There's also a special Big Bug Bonanza event on Monday August 5.

Sunday 4th August, from 11am 

There will be something for all the family at the Fly-in and Family Fun Day at Ballyboy Airfield, just outside Athboy, Co Meath this Sunday August 4 (11.0). 

This annual event is held in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland and has raised over €50,000 for this great charity in the last four years.

There will be dozens of visiting and locally-based light aircraft and helicopters, model aircraft displays and activities for kids of all ages.

A super aerobatic display is lined up for the afternoon from Rich Goodwin, Eddie Goggins and the Irish Historical Flight Foundation.  

Helicopters from the Irish Air Corps and vintage aircraft are also planned.  

New for this year, helicopter rides will be available throughout the day.

Ballyboy’s famous barbeque is ready and bouncy castles inflated so you are guaranteed great food and fun for all the family while supporting Down Syndrome Ireland in their great work around the country. 

Gates will open at 11.00am with a donation of €10 per car.
