Garrigan and Eivers depart coaching roles with Meath

Meath senior football is on the look out for a new football coach and a new head of strength and conditioning following the news that Paul Garrigan and Eugene Eivers have left their roles with Colm O'Rourke's management team.

Garrigan and Eivers were key players in Meath Ladies two All-Ireland SFC wins and were appointed to the men's senior set up when Colm O'Rourke took over from Andy McEntee in December 2022.

Following a disappointing NFL Div 2 game and a shock first round exit at the hands of Offaly in the Leinster SFC, Meath recovered well to win all their games in the Tailteann Cup and claim the silverware with the Croke Park final victory over Down.

In those closing week's of the season the Meath Ladies parted company with Davy Nelson as their manager and Garrigan and Eivers stepped in to offer a helping hand to prepare the team for the defence of their All-Ireland title.

After a review of their 2023 campaign Meath GAA confirmed in a statement to the Meath Chronicle that neither Garrigan or Eivers would be involved with the senior football panel for 2024.

Oldcastle native Garrigan, who worked as a Games development Officer in Wicklow, is expected to remain as Academy Head Coach of Meath GAA.
