McGrath best of Meath runners in Bohermeen's Patrick Bell & Nickey Philips 5k

Drogheda & District AC's Aaron Hanlon had 15 seconds to spare ahead of local runner Kevin McGrath when he claimed the men's race at Bohermeen AC's Patrick Bell & Nickey Philips 5k on Friday evening.

McGrath was the leading Meath finisher in a strong field as Trim AC's John Lee was the next best local finisher in 16th place.

Hanlon's winning time was 15 minutes and seven seconds.

North East Runners AC's Aine Cotter was the first woman across the line in a time of 16 minutes and 56 seconds.

Sinead McDonald from Glenmore AC was next best home in the women's race in 17:24, while Edel Gaffney was the best of the local runners in fourth when the Trim AC athlete running 18:00.

North East Runners won the men's and women's team event with Trim AC best of the Meath clubs back in fifth overall in the women's category, while Trim AC were also the best of the Meath clubs in the men's team event when they were third overall.
