The Navan Municipal District 2022 Pride of Place awards took place in Buvinda House, Navan on Wednesday, 12th October, 2022.
The Mayor of Navan, Cllr Edward Fennessy welcomed the guests in attendance who represented the 26 applicant groups who took part from Navan Municipal District.
Cllr Fennessy commented that the groups work in and support every community in Meath and he commended the fantastic and invaluable work and achievements of the voluntary groups over the last year and beyond. He noted that it is clear that Meath is continuing its strong tradition of community development of volunteerism and community action.
Director of Services for Navan MD, Mr. Martin Murray thanked all of the volunteers on behalf of Meath County Council for the work that is carried out in Navan MD. He noted that the Pride of Place initiative is a successful partnership between the community and Meath County Council and that this commitment and support will continue. He congratulated all of the groups on their nominations.
The highlight of the evening was the award given to St. Ultan’s Terrace Residents (13 -15) for the Best Small Housing Estate. This was the first year that the group entered the competition. The adjudicator described the estate as an oasis in the centre of Navan thanks to the hard work of its very imaginative residents.
