Additional 15,000 residential units needed for Navan by 2050
Meath Co Council’s 2050 vision document sets out the strategic long term plan for the town
An expected growth in population in Navan to 58,000 by 2050 will see the need for an additional 15,000 residential units and the development of 18,000 jobs according to Meath County Council's ‘Navan 2050 Vision’.
The projected figures also make a very strong case for the development of the railway line to Navan.
The ‘Vision’ which has been shortlisted in the nineteenth annual Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards, predicts that Navan's population of 32,725 today will grow to 58,000 in 2050 and the number of houses will need to grow from 11,000 to 26,000.
Navan 2050 is a vision statement for the town that sets out the strategic long term plan for Navan and was used to support the town’s campaign for a rail link. It highlights the towns capacity for growth and development over the next 30 years and sets out a list of long-term actions necessary for Navan to grow and develop sustainably up to 2050.
