Residents' anger over build up of rubbish at apartment complex

Residents of a Trim apartment complex have spoke of their disgust that their bins have not been collected for five weeks with rubbish now overflowing in the bin storage area.

Will Power who rents an apartment in Charter Hall on Patrick Street said the refuse has not been collected since 30th June and told how they couldn't open their windows during the hot weather because of the stench. He is also fearful that the rubbish build up will attract rats.

"We have been left in the dark. We know nothing other than that there is a pile of rubbish on our doorsteps and nobody is removing it.

"With the weather we have been having, you want to have the doors and windows open to let fresh air in without getting the smell of a refuse dump. The flies and birds are having a field day and god knows what four legged creatures it will attract.

Will has been raising the issue since the bin collection was first missed more than a month ago and got a message this week to say it is being resolved and the rubbish would be collected next week.

"We hope the rubbish is collected next week but we will believe it when we see it.

"We have got no explanation as to why this happened, no apology and no assurance it won't happen again."

The management company has been contacted for comment.
