A brief history of Meath jerseys appearing in exotic locations

Bohermeen man Tom Casserly have turned heads earlier this week when he was a lone Meath man in a sea of blue on Hill 16 on Sunday’s Dublin v Kerry clash, a zone of Croke Park that has been considered enemy territory for Meath fans over the years.

However, Meath memorabilia has been known to appear in unusual places over the years. A famous example of this is in 2010 during anti-government riots in Bangkok a young man was pictured wearing a Meath top.

Another example of a Meath jersey popping up in an unusual place is in Freetown, Sierra Leone when a man sported an early noughties version of the jersey when watching the country's national team play against Algeria in this year's African Cup of Nations.

Although not GAA related another example is when a bus from Carolan Coaches in Nobber somehow made its way to Stonetown, Zanzibar, Tanzania in 2018, which google maps lists as being 11,791 km from Nobber and the total driving time is 177 hours.
