Moynalvey family all set for ‘Fittest’ battle!
Moynalvey family, the Corcorans, will battle it out against three other families on Sunday night's episode of RTE's ‘Ireland's Fittest Family’.
Father John, twins Aoibheann and Saoirse (17), and their older brother Paul (18), will take on the gruelling physical challenges under the guidance of coach Derval O'Rourke as they seek a place in the next round of the tough competition.
They will be up against the McDonalds from Antrim, the Cuddys from Roscommon, and the McIntyres from Tipperary, with just two families progressing on.
Passionate about the GAA, family members are all involved with the local Moynalvey GAA club. Aoibheann is also goalkeeper on the Meath minor team that won the Leinster final this year. John (47) is a builder which keeps him active and he has no problem getting his 25,000 steps in a day. The Corcorans are very competitive and love playing rounders as a family.
For the winner of Sunday evening's first event 'Sole Survivor', there is a golden ticket straight through to the quarter-final. This makes it even tougher for the remaining three families, as there is only one place left. They must take on '2 Fast 2 Furious' where the family that comes last is eliminated. The remaining two families will then face off in the eliminator for the final place.
Ireland's Fittest Family is again being filmed at Hell andBack in Kilruddery, Co Wicklow, this year.
Heats one to four takes place in ‘The Forest’ where four families in each episode battle it out for two places in the quarter-finals. Then it’s on to ‘The Lake’ for two episodes, when the remaining eight sink or swim their way to the semi- finals. Next up. the semi-final takes place in ‘The Swamp’ where the six families remaining desperately try to nab one of four places in the grand final, on ‘The Mountain’. The family that claims the title also wins €15,000.
