Trainer Joseph Murray on the mark at Dundalk this evening

Never Back Down wins - maybe it was the Doyle factor?

Joseph Murray, who trains near Navan, was on the mark at Dundalk this evening when Never Back Down was first home in a one-mile handicap for jockey James J Doyle.

The previous win for Never Back Down was in November 2018 when trained in England by Hugo Palmer and on that occasion the winning jockey was James Doyle.

Maybe it was just a coincidence, but this evening at Dundalk, almost three years after that victory, the winning jockey was James J Doyle - not to be confused with James Doyle who was in the winners enclosure this evening at Newbury for trainer Roger Charlton.

After 37 runs without a victory the win was achieved after three placed efforts with Ado McGuinness.

The move to Navan obviously benefited Never Back Down and also dropping from a rating of 90 to 56 helped.

It was a fifth outing for trainer Murray who managed to find the right formula - maybe it was all down to Doyle factor?
