GAA FLASHBACK - Martinstown / Athboy u-21 team from 1981

The top talent on the GAA front that was playing as Martinstown / Athboy in 1981 is featured in the above photo complete with the logo-free jerseys and the exotic hair cuts of the era.

No names on the photo from the Meath Chronicle archive, but that is something that will be resolved in a forthcoming proposed publication about the history of the GAA in the general Athboy area.

Bernard O'Byrne in collaboration with Clann na nGael is compiling a history of the GAA in Athboy, Rathcairn and the surrounding areas since 1900 with a view to publishing a book.

Bernard's work will begin immediately, but to succeed he needs the support of anyone with any information and photographs which they wish to put forward.
