Neil Burke was in fine form as Skryne picked up their first Premier FC Div 1 point

Premier FC round-up

DIV 1

Skryne........1-11

Dunshaughlin......0-14

Losing two men to fourth-quarter red cards proved to have a detrimental effect on Skryne as they surrendered a half-time lead and were held to a Premier FC Div 1 draw by hosts Dunshaughlin.

Last year's finalists looked set for their first win of the campaign as the star of the show Neil Burke opened the scoring with a goal and he added all of Skryne's points as they led by 1-6 to 0-6 at the break.

Oisin Keogh stretched Skryne's lead with a point after the resumption, but Dunshaughlin stayed in touch and the three-point gap remained at the second water break, 0-9 to 1-9.

Then Skryne imploded.

They lost their first player to a red card when play resumed, but with Des McAvinney making a couple of nice saves and Keogh and John Morley adding points Skryne looked set to claim the spoils.

However a second red card proved costly as Dunshaughlin took advantage of their numerical supremacy to hit the last two points of the game, including the equaliser with the last kick, to deny the Tara men their first win.

Skryne - Des McAvinney; Barry Clarke, David Carroll, Jack Dardis; Frank Carty, Michael Doherty, Kristofer Kinsella; Patrick Fox, Tommy Carpenter; Keith Donoghue, Neil Burke (1-6), Jack O’Donnell; Oisín Keogh (0-3) Paddy Carpenter, Jason Reddy(0-1). Subs - John Morley (0-1), Aidan Tuite.

Dunboyne........4-8

Donaghmore/Ashbourne.......0-9

The concession of three first-half goals left last year's Premier FC Div 1 champions Donaghmore/Ashbourne with too much of a mountain to climb as they lost out to a strong Dunboyne side.

Faolain Smyth opened the scoring for Donaghmore/Ashbourne, but they were pegged back immediately when Dunboyne netted from a penalty. Dunboyne added a second goal to lead by 2-3 to 0-2 at the water break and by half-time the lead was 3-5 to 0-6.

The scoring rate eased in the second-half, but by that stage Dunboyne had done enough and when they added a fourth goal it rendered points from Simon Wilson, Daragh O'Sullivan and Smyth to mere consolation scores.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Jack Hannigan; Aaron McLoughlin, Jack Giles, Rodney Jones; David Carr, Cillian Hogan, Matt Crumlish; Chris Brady, David Keenan; Luke Wilson (0-3), Faolain Smyth (0-2), Daragh O'Sullivan (0-3); Simon Wilson (0-1), Sam Benville, Luke Barrett. Subs - Ethan Tormey for Hogan, Joe Magee for Keenan, Kevin Cully for Jones.

Summerhill.......6-15

St Patrick’s........1-7

Leinster MFC winning captain Eoghan Frayne made a massive impact off the bench as he bagged a hat-trick of goals to boost Summerhill to an easy Premier FC Div 2 win over St Patrick's.

Trailing by 1-3 to 1-5 at half-time, Summerhill introduced both Frayne and Adam McDonnell from the 2020 Leinster winning minors and they had a huge impact, turning the tide in their side's favour. Jamie O'Shea, Eamonn McDonnell and Cathal Ryan also found the net for the winners who sit top of the table after three games.

Summerhill - Robbie McDonnell; Mark O'Donoghue, Jack Davies, Ben Moran; Conor Ryan, Iarla Hughes, Gavin McVann; Ciaran Gillespie (0-1), Paddy McGrath (0-1); Aaron Williams, Jamie O'Shea (1-4), Eamonn McDonnell (1-1); Cathal Ryan (1-1), Bobby Lyons (0-1), Eamonn Ryan (0-2). Subs - Eoghan Frayne (3-3) for Lyons, Adam McDonnell for McVann, Eoghan Jennings for Davies, Ross Tallon (0-1) for Gillespie, McVann for Williams.

Navan O'Mahonys......5-10

Simonstown Gaels.....0-19

with 34 scores between them this Premier FC Div 2 local derby certainly lived up to all expectations as Navan O'Mahonys five goals proved decisive as they leap-frogged Simonstown into second place.

Their great start proved to be more than half the battle for O'Mahonys as goals from Ronan Clarke and Sean Walsh boosted them to a 2-3 to 0-2 lead after just seven minutes. However, Simonstown's restricted them to one further point in the half as they closed to within one, 0-9 to 2-4.

Simonstown opened the second-half as they had finished the first and took the lead for the first, and only, time. However, O'Mahonys settled again with Walsh and Sean Smyth adding points before Smyth raced in to tap in a goal to restore the visitor's lead.

There was still only two points between the sides at the second water break, but when Clayton O'Sullivan added a fourth goal it put O'Mahonys in the driving seat and they wrapped up the win with Smyth's second goal.

Navan O’Mahonys - Colm Honan; Evan Brady, Conor Brady, Darren Reilly; Kevin O’Hanlon, Eimhin Power, Evan Murtagh; Paddy Dillon (0-1), Robbie Keelaghan; Clayton O’Sullivan (1-2), Sean Smyth (2-4), Gavin Fox; Ronan Clarke (1-0), Shane McCarthy (0-2), Sean Walsh (1-1). DIV 6

Ballinlough.......3-12

Meath Hill........2-8

Ballinlough turned the tables on Meath Hill as they avenged their Premier FC Div 7 final loss to Meath Hill in June by scoring a late victory over their north Meath rivals in round three of the Div 6 campaign.

Meath Hill won the final by eight points, but on Friday evening Ballinlough completed a 15-point swing by turning on the style in the closing stages and pulling clear.

After a tight opening quarter Meath Hill led by 0-4 to 0-3 at the water break, and they stretched that advantage to lead by 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time.

Meath Hill stretched that advantage after the resumption, but that score sparked a Ballinlough revival with Ben Wiseman and Jamie Casserly kick-starting the recovery.

However Meath Hill struck for a second goal on the counter-attack and it looked bleak for Ballinlough as they trailed by 0-8 to 2-7 at the second water break.

Points from Casserly and Simon Deevey closed the gap to two with eight minutes remaining and five minutes later Meath Hill stretched the gap to three again.

However almost immediately Conor Fleming bagged a goal to restore parity and when Casserly edged his side in front on the hour mark Ballinlough celebrated. There was still more to come from the hosts Conor Briody added his side's second goal two minutes into injury-time and a minute later Casserly bagged the third to claim a dramatic win.

Ballinlough - K McGuinness; L Finnegan, E Smith, B Jordan; N McDonnell, P Muldoon (0-1), B Brady (0-1); D Galligan, K Byrne; S Tunney (0-1), J Casserly (1-6), J Reilly (0-1); H Briody, S Deevey (0-1), B Wiseman (0-1). Subs - C Fleming (1-0) for McDonnell, E McCabe for Byrne, T Fagan for Wiseman, C Briody (1-0) for Reilly.
