Fr Ray would love to sing at the Eurovision

Oldcastle's Fr Ray Kelly has revealed it had been a dream of his to represent Ireland in the Eurovision.

"I'd love it, I've been following the Eurovision since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

"The only thing is I'm a bit old for it, but other than that I'd love to do it."

His comment comes in the week that Ireland's Lesley Roy failed to make it to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in in Rotterdam's Ahoy Stadium on Tuesday night with her song, Maps.

Fr Kelly said he watches the show every year. "I just love it."

While he's unlikely to compete in the Eurovision anytime soon, Fr Ray continues to be extremely popular across the globe.

He has over 27,500 viewers streaming his masses each week, with fans across the world watching in.

"Apparently there are even people tuning in from Vietnam but I sing a couple of songs at Mass so perhaps that’s the reason why.
