The National Takeaway Awards shortlist has been revealed..and Meath has zero entries!

Just Eat, Ireland’s leading online food ordering and delivery app, today released details of the 77 shortlisted restaurants through to the final stages of this year’s Just Eat National Takeaway Awards and there is not one single entry for Meath!

We might be biased but the royal county has some stellar eatery offerings from The valley café in Navan to Khan Spices Indian Restaurant in Trim to Zen Palace Chinese Restaurant in Kells and many more in between so why have we been left out?

Westmeath and Wicklow came out with two entries and even the wee county has a shortlisted finalist.

Local takeaways have done a trojan job throughout lockdowns this year and we think they deserve to be recognised!

What is your favourite takeaway in Meath?

Just Eat said that the finalists were “nominated by a record number of customers in their local communities; in recognition of their resilience and in celebration of the diversity of choice now available through their delivery menu.”

They added that: “The awards were established to shine a light on local and independent restaurants across Ireland that continue to innovate and this year Just Eat is recognising restaurants that have gone the extra mile to serve those most in need during the pandemic.

Commenting on the shortlist announcement, Amanda Roche-Kelly, Managing Director at Just Eat Ireland said: “We’ve seen an increase in the number of customers that have engaged with this year’s Just Eat National Takeaway awards; representative of how we’ve seen communities responsively galvanise in their support of local business.

“The Just Eat National Takeaway Awards is not just about celebrating Just Eat restaurant partners, it’s about shining a light on the hard working owners of local and independent restaurants right across Ireland who are continuously adapting their business model to meet the needs of those within their local area.”
