Carey back on track and podium
Top driver Cian Carey returned to motorsport action at Mondello Park last weekend on a winning note with a new car.
The Ratoath driver was iole position for both races and took second place in the opener and then won his second race by over 12 seconds.
Additionally, Carey set a new lap record around Mondello Park in a new car, a Dallara European Formula 3.
"It was great to get a win on the first weekend back," commented Carey who was a monthly winner at the 2019 Meath Chronicle sports awards last January.
That was in recognition of his achievements last year when he achieved a piece of motorsport history in October.
The Meath driver became the first man to retain the prestigious British Formula 3 Cup Championship and complete a memorable two in-a-row.
Carey made it back-to-back successes after his inaugural victory in the 2018 competitive series and last year he achieved eight wins and 16 podiums.
The Meath man achieved amazing success in 2017, 2018 and 2019 - Irish young race driver of the year, Lenister Trophy champion and two British titles back-to-back and of course that Meath Chronicle award.
