Guirke seeking answers on promised legislation and Navan rail line

The Navan rail line issue was raised today in the Convention Centre with Sinn Fein's Deputy Johnny Guirke seeking answers on promised legislation and urging the Goverment to follow through on pledges made during the general election campaign.

"On page 10 of your Programme for Government you did not explicitly mention the Navan-Dublin rail line but you did give a commitment to rail.

"Navan is the largest town in Ireland not serviced by rail. Before and during the election all parties committed to delivering the rail line to Navan including the three parties in Government.

"Can I ask you Tanaiste, will this Government deliver the rail line to Navan as was promised during campaigning for the general election?

Tanaiste Leo Vardakar directed the question to Hildegarde Naughton, Minister of State attending Cabinet with responsibility for International and Road Transport and Logistics, who informed Deputy Guirke that she would come back top the Meath West TD with "a comprehensive response" to the query."
