Skid Row revival for Beggys

Brush Shiels has decided, following his recent health scare, that for the foreseeable future he will be only playing the classic and iconic Skid Row set, as played by Gary Moore, Noel Bridgeman and himself, on two unmissable live John Peel BBC shows from 1970 and 1971. To do this he will be joined by his son, Jude, on guitar, and Noel Martin Jnr on drums, and they will perform in Beggy's, Ludlow Street, on Thursday 7th March. The Skid Row style is a mixture of jazz, rock, blues, country and folk, and it's not for the faint-hearted, so from now he won't be playing 'The Fields of Athenry', 'Dirty Old Town' or 'Whiskey in the Jar', what he called his Celtic rock set. From now on Brush will just be playing all the music he wrote with Skid Row, what he played at the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles, the music he played at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, and the music he was playing when he toured with the Allman Brothers in America. The new show offers the experience of the power of improvisation, remembering the way it used to be, when Phil was alive, when Rory Gallagher was alive, when Gary Moore was alive, and even though their music is still alive, these three Irish icons are sadly missed, not just because they were great people, but because they kept a very high standard of ability on the instruments alive. It's Brush's intention to keep it going on their behalf, as he explains: "Perpetual motion, notions in motion, at this juncture we have to be true to ourselves".
