Funeral arrangements for Fr Joe Gleeson

Fr Joe Gleeson's remains will repose at the Church of The Immaculate Conception, Rathfeigh from 2pm to 6.30pm this Tuesday, 16th August, with removal on the same evening to St Colmcille's Church, Skryne arriving at 7.30pm.

Requiem Mass this Wednesday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

A native of Kilcormac parish, Fr Joseph Gleeson was born in September 1931. He was educated at St Finian's, Mullingar and St Patrick's Seminary, Maynooth and was ordained on 22nd June 1958.

He was on loan to the Diocese of Ossory where he served as curate in St Mary's Cathedral, Kilkenny from 1958 - 1965.

He then served as curate in Tullamore 1965 - 1976 andwent to Laytown in January 1977. During his time there the new church was built and in September 1986 when Laytown was established as a new parish with Mornington, he was appointed as administrator in Laytown/Bettystown/Mornington 1986 - 1987.

Fr Gleeson was appointed Parish Priest of Skyrne/Rathfeigh in 1987 and retired in 2006.
