Burning of Navan mannequin condemned

The burning of one of the sculpted willow mannequins at St Finian’s Terrace in Navan  has been condemned by the chairman of the Navan Joint Policing Committee, Cllr Anton McCabe.
He described the culprits as “senseless fools, who obviously have no respect for themselves or any one else or their property”.
Cllr McCabe said that the mannequins were a focal point of pride in the town and were admired by many visitors and residents of Navan.
He said he hoped that the gardai would be able to apprehend the culprits, as he believes that this was not a random incident. “Whoever carried it out had to bring materials with them to burn it,” he said.
Cllr McCabe said it wasn’t the first time the artistic structures were vandalised, as one was 'beheaded’ some time ago. Fortunately, the head the recovered and it was possible to repair the mannequin.
