Flag to fly over Leinster House for frontline workers
Tomorrow, Friday 1st May, marks International Workers Day, when the Irish Flag is raised on Leinster House be in honour of our frontline workers.
Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD says: "Further to an initiative by the Thomas Meagher Foundation seeking the raising of the Irish Flag on Friday in honour of our frontline workers, I am delighted to confirm the participation of Leinster House in this gesture of thanks to our frontline workers. Our flag has at many moments in our history been a symbol of pride and used to show our nation at its best. The frontline workers, who we are honouring on Friday, have indeed made us very proud and are serving the public in an exemplary manner in the most extraordinary circumstances".
This initiative - spearheaded by the Thomas F. Meagher Foundation in partnership with An Post, The GAA, SIPTU, The Mental Health Commissioner and the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals seeks to honour the front line workers who are putting themselves on the frontline during this pandemic.
