Karl Spain for Ashbourne Laughs
Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA Club has played host to some of Ireland's top comedians in the last few months with another performing this Friday, 7th October, in the shape of Karl Spain. Best known for RTE shows such as 'Karl Spain Wants a Woman' and 'Karl Spain Wants to Rock', Friday's headliner is also a regular on 'The Panel'. The Sunday Times have called him "achingly funny" while Hot Press declared that "the future of Irish comedy is in safe hands". Support comes from Ireland's best comedy sketch group - Foil, Arms & Hog, who recently earned rave reviews for the third year running at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. The Irish Times have called them "one of the brightest up and coming acts" while influential UK comedy site Chortle called them "hugely enjoyable". A wonderful line-up is topped off with the "hilariously aloof" Trevor Browne and open mic spot Carl Cullinane. The host will be Alan Gernon from 'Monday Night Soccer', who Hot Press recently called "one of the stars of the performance". Tickets are €10 from the club, E2 Music in Navan or www.e2music.ie/tickets. Drinks promotions on the night include pints of Miller for €3 and bottles of wine for €11. The club is also offering a Comedy Meal Deal - €20 for a main course and gig ticket. The show kicks off at 9.30pm with doors open from 9pm.
