Meath launch 'Future of Hurling' initiative
The initiative aims to keep young talented hurlers from drifting away from the sport.
Meath GAA have taken steps to mitigate the issue of talented young hurlers stepping away from the game from u-16 onwards by launching the Future of Meath Hurling initiative.
The county board has recognised that tremendous work is being done across all underage sections. In particular, at u-14 and below the talent and numbers on display epitomises the hard work being done on the ground.
However, from u-16 level upwards, numbers start to dwindle as talented hurlers drift away from the sport. Meath Hurling’s new initiative aims to provide better coaching development, S&C and athletic development and clear long-term pathways and targets.
As a result, the Meath Hurling Supporters Syndicate is now being formed with the aim of funding specialist coaching development for underage coaches, strength & conditioning programmes for U15-U20 players, athletic development, player-pathway initiatives that keep teenagers involved in hurling and equipment and resources that raise standards across the county.
Joining the Meath Hurling Supporters Syndicate includes a payment of €500 per year or five monthly instalments of €100.
