Cars and Coffee fundraiser returns to Causey Farm this Sunday
A popular ‘Cars and Coffee’ fundraising event is set to return to Causey Farm, Fordstown this Sunday with proceeds going to two vital local charities.
Organised by Athboy musician and car enthusiast Brian Mullen, the event will take place on Sunday 22nd March from 9.30am to 1.30pm, with all funds raised going to SOSAD Ireland (Meath branch) and Athboy Cardiac First Responders.
The event, which proved a success last year, will once again welcome a wide variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, tractors, motorbikes, 4x4s and vans.
“I have a passion for classic cars and a passion for helping charities so I decided to merge the two together,” said Brian.
“It’s not just about cars either — all vehicles are welcome, so it’s something everyone can get involved in.”
Entry on the day is free, with donations encouraged, and a raffle and entertainment are also planned.
“It’s free entry and people can just come along, enjoy the morning and make a donation if they can,” he said.
A strong line-up of local musicians is also set to perform on the day, including Dave Lynagh, Matt Leavy, Frances Smith, Dara and Emer, Paul Leavy and the MTR Roadshow.
“Local musicians will be there to entertain and it’s shaping up to be a great family day out,” Brian added.
Funds raised will support two organisations providing essential services in the local community.
“SOSAD is such an important service and they are really struggling for funding at the moment,” he said. “Athboy Cardiac First Responders also do incredible work in the area and it’s important they are supported.”
Brian previously told how the event also carries a personal significance, as it honours the memory of his late brother Tommy Mullen, a well-known and respected figure in Athboy.
“It was a massive shock to the community when Tommy died,” he said.
“He was so well known and so well liked, and he did so much for people that nobody ever heard about.
“He was a great character and a big part of the town, and I’m sure he’ll be on everyone’s thoughts on the day.”
Organisers are encouraging people from across Meath and beyond to attend, whether they are vehicle enthusiasts or simply looking for a family-friendly morning out in support of good causes.
