Young Athboy CS soccer stars receive NERL call up

Eight students from Athboy Community School have been called up to play in the Gaynor Cup and Kennedy Cup.

Eight young soccer stars including two sets of twins from Athboy Community School have been called up to play for the North-Eastern Regional league in in the Gaynor Cup and Kennedy Cup this summer.

The future of soccer is sure to be healthy in Athboy Community School with five first year girls and three first year boys called up to play for their North-Eastern Regional league (NERL) in the Gaynor Cup and Kennedy Cup this summer.

Emily Donnelly, Lucy Donnelly, Angie Nicol, Janine Nicol and Lily-Mai Hickey have been called up into the NERL squad for the Gaynor Cup. While Cayden Shaw, Kai Flynn and Jamie Bell, have been called up to play in the Kennedy Cup.

The Gaynor and Kennedy Cups are organised by the FAI schools section and are competed for by representative teams from all over Ireland at u-14 level. It is held every summer in the University of Limerick.
