Built by the scene, for the scene
New chapter for live music in Navan
For anyone who grew up in Navan, live music was always vital to the local community. Bringing people together in the local pub felt like a cultural meeting point rather than just a place to drink.
For years, Navan was the place to stop for artists touring nationally, making live music a regular and celebrated part of local life. In recent years, that sense of connection has seemed to dwindle away. There are fewer opportunities for local artists to grow and even less constant live events for audiences and artists alike to rally around. Against that backdrop, a locally founded events company has been working to quietly rebuild that culture, with the hopes of bringing live music back into local venues, promoting home-grown talent and proving the scene can thrive again when it’s built on professionalism and community.
The desire to restore what we had lost over the years was the driving force behind the company’s creation by Kian Mooney and Ben Ryan. K&B Promotions emerged from first hand experiences of the local music scene with a belief that live local events could be run better for everyone involved. From the start, the goal was not to chase one off shows every few months. It was to create something sustainable, a company that treated artists with respect while hosting strong nights for venues and audiences alike.
Since starting at the end of August 2025, the reputation in the local and regional music community has continued to grow. Many bands have returned to play multiple shows under the company’s banner, while others have specifically requested to be involved after hearing about previous events. For the venue, the benefit has been well organised events that bring people through the door and encourage repeat attendance. Most importantly the atmosphere has been electric, engaged audiences and the sense of something special is being built night by night.
Beyond individual events, the impact has been seen in a renewed sense of momentum across the local music scene. Regular live music nights have helped re-establish habits among audiences, giving people something to look forward to and creating a space for bands to play and help them develop in front of a crowd. In doing so, K&B Promotions has helped reinforce the idea that live music is not just entertainment, but a deep part of Navan’s cultural identity.
Looking ahead, the focus remains on growth without compromise. Plans are in place to expand into larger shows and higher capacity events, while maintaining the principle that shaped the company from the beginning. Keeping the artists at the centre and aiming to ensure Navan continues not as a nostalgia act, but as a living, evolving part of the music scene.
The next K&B Promotions show is on Saturday 7th February at 8.30pm in the backroom of The Lantern.
The acts include headline act, Holy Show, supported by Bowzy and The Least Said - three bands showing off electric Irish rock and some new songs that they recently released.
