Dates confirmed for Kells Road Races

Kells Road Races will take place on 20th and 21st June this year, it has been confirmed.

After a three-year absence, Kells Road Races is one of four road racing events so far confirmed for the 2026 calendar.

Crippling insurance costs led to the cancellation of the Kells Road Races over the past three years with no road racing taking place in 2023, 2024 or 2025 in the Republic of Ireland.

Announcing the decision to go ahead with the races in 2026, Assistant Chairman and PRO Dave McCabe said planning is now in "full swing".

He said: "Following on from our decision to run Kells Road Races 2026, a full consultation process will take place with our fantastic residents, Meath County Council and An Garda Síochána.

"Planning for Kells Road Races 2026 is now in full swing.

"Exciting times ahead for the club and we look forward to releasing more details in due course."

Kells Road Races is one of four big events are so far confirmed for this year. As well as Kells Road Races, Skerries Road Races and Southwest Road Race, Fore Motorcycle Racing Club confirmed at the weekend that its Race of the South is also set to make a return.

Welcoming the confirmation of the motorcycle events, Motorcycle Ireland said it was a "significant boost" to Irish road racing and underlined "the continued commitment and momentum within the sport".

"These confirmations represent a very positive step forward for the road racing fraternity. They reflect the dedication and hard work of clubs, volunteers, members, and supporters who continue to invest their time and energy into keeping the sport alive and thriving," Motorcycle Ireland wrote on its Facebook page.
