Drugs haul worth over €320,000 seized in Navan Garda sting

A major Garda drugs operation in Navan has led to the seizure of drugs worth more than €320,000 and the arrest of three people.

The haul was uncovered on Monday, January 19th, when members of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau carried out an Operation Tara intelligence-led sting in the town.

Gardaí intercepted two vehicles in the Navan area, seizing cannabis with an estimated street value of €120,000, cocaine worth €2,000 and €13,000 in cash.

Two men in their 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences under the Criminal Justice Act. They are currently being detained at a Garda station in County Meath.

In follow-up searches of nearby lands, assisted by the Garda Dog Unit, officers uncovered further quantities of cannabis with an estimated value of €200,000.

All of the drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Detective Chief Superintendent Seamus Boland said Gardaí will continue to target those involved in organised crime and drug trafficking, warning people to think carefully about the damage caused by illegal drugs to local communities. Investigations are ongoing.
