Jim O'Connor, national sales manager Lidl, cracks open the champagne at Lidl Cavan to celebrate their €17M Euromillions winner with staff at the Creighan store.

Search continues for €17M lotto winner as store revealed

Huge celebrations are continuing this morning at the Lidl store in Cavan Town as it was revealed as the selling location of Friday night’s €17 million jackpot winning ticket.

The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on the day of the draw at Lidl Cavan.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have sold the winning ticket to a Lidl customer, and just before Christmas too! We’re urging any Lidl customers who shopped with us on Friday to be sure to check their tickets as they could be in store for a very Happy Christmas this year!” commented Eimear O’Sullivan, Corporate Affairs Director, Lidl Ireland.

The win marks the second Irish EuroMillions jackpot win of 2025 following the €250 million jackpot win in June. In recent weeks, another National Lottery player in Cavan also became a millionaire after scooping the top prize of €1 million in the 2pm Daily Million draw on November 30.

National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr has the following advice for Ireland’s newest millionaire: “Imagine realising that you have a ticket worth €17 million in your possession! That’s sure to be the reality of a EuroMillions player in Cavan who has now taken the title of the 19th Irish EuroMillions jackpot winner.

"As we have yet to hear from our latest jackpot winner, we are appealing to all of our EuroMillions players who may have purchased their tickets for the Friday 12th December draw at the Lidl store in Creighan on the Athlone Road to carefully check their tickets today as one person now has a ticket worth a massive €17 million.”

“The winner should stay calm and sign the back of their ticket. They should make contact with our Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to visit Lottery Headquarters to collect their life-changing prize.”

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In 2024 alone, €239.3 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
