Funeral arrangements announced for lorry driver killed in Gormanston crash
The funeral arrangements have been announced for Wesley O’Reilly, one of the two victims who tragically lost their lives in Monday morning’s multi-vehicle collision on the R132 at Gormanston.
A death notice on RIP states:
“Reilly, Wesley (Wes) - (Loughshinny and late of Finglas, Dublin) unexpectedly 24th November 2025. Predeceased by his dad Brendan, his brother Bren, and his sister Margaret.”
“Wes will be sadly missed by his loving family, mother Noeleen, his loving wife Nina, daughters Kirsty and Cody, son Ross, grandson Mason, his children’s partners Craig, Mikes, and Ava, sisters, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and a wide circle of friends.”
Wesley will repose at his home on Sunday evening from 3pm to 5pm, with the family requesting that the house remains private at other times.
His funeral will take place on Monday, December 1st, at 11am in St Maur’s Church, Rush, followed by burial in Whitestown Cemetery.
Wesley was driving the lorry involved in the crash that also claimed the life of Paul Conway, aged in his 50s, from Tallanstown near Ardee. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Several others were seriously injured in the crash, including a woman in her 40s and a teenage girl who are both receiving treatment in hospital.
The tragic incident occurred just after 6:30am and has left the local communities in Gormanston, East Meath, Drogheda and beyond in shock.
In a statement, Jean O’Sullivan, CEO of Bus Éireann, said:
“We are devastated by this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and colleagues of our Bus Éireann driver who has sadly lost his life, and with the family and friends of the driver of the other vehicle who also passed away.
“The loss of a colleague is a shock to everyone across Bus Éireann – our thoughts are very much with our colleague’s family, friends and the many co-workers who are devastated at the loss. Our thoughts are also with the other driver’s family, with our passengers, and with the occupants of the third vehicle who have been injured and are receiving care in hospital.
“At Bus Éireann, safety is our highest priority, and we are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities. We remain committed to supporting all those affected and assisting the authorities in every way we can.”
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses or motorists with dash-cam footage from the time of the collision, particularly between 5:45am and 6:45am, to come forward.
