Searches continue in tough conditions for missing man

Searches have been continuing along the River Boyne in very tough conditions, for missing Navan man Jordan Newman (28) who was last seen on 10th November.

Water levels remain high and the river is fast flowing with several pathways submerged, making for very difficult conditions as searches continued into their eight day.

Crews from Meath Civil Defence, Meath River Rescue and the Garda Water Unit have all been involved and a crew from Boyne Fishermen Rescue and Recovery Service also helped with the search effort over the weekend. The Garda Air Support Unit also joined the search yesterday (Sunday) evening.

Meath Civil Defence Officer Shane Quinn said conditions are tough and is urging members of the public to be very careful if out searching the banks and not to go out alone. "The water level is quite high, a lot of the walkways are submerged. From a public safety point of view, we would encourage members of the public not to be walking on the Ramparts," he said.

Christopher Rennicks of Meath River Rescue also said the conditions are making the search more difficult and while he said the river "has dropped a small bit today", he said it is still very fast.

He paid tribute to the local community for their support throughout the search. He also thanked Slane Men's Shed who built a field kitchen which is being used for the first time during this search, and also thanked a local businessman who supplied a portable toilet.

Jordan Newman (28) was reported missing from Clogherboy Park, Navan on Monday 10th November 2025. He was last seen at approximately 12:30am in the Bothar Sion area of Navan, Co Meath.
