Goals win games and three second-half goals were the difference between the sides as Scoil Oilibheir Naofa claimed the Boys Div 2 final with a 3-7 to 0-7 win over Bohermeen NS at Ashbourne on Sunday.

Charlie Cosgrave was phenomenal for the winners. He notched two important goals and his work rate throughout was fantastic.

It was Bohermeen that got off to a much brighter start and within three minutes, they rattled off three points through a brace from Thomas Murray and one from his midfield partner William Kelly. Murray was involved in some nice link-up play in the build-up to Kelly’s score.

The rest of the first-half was all about one man. Scoil Oilibheir Naofa’s captain Oisin Burke hit five frees before the interval. Liam Farrelly chipped in with a point for the eventual winners and at half-time, Scoil Oilibheir Naofa led 0-6 to 0-3.

Cosgrave and Scoil Oilibheir Naofa hit the ground running after the restart. Darragh Snee set up Cosgrave for the first of his brace of green flags three minutes into the half. Snee was also involved in the second goal when he gave a nice pass to Matthew Fox, who then sent a lovely ball into the danger area for Cosgrave to fist to the net.

Murray tried his very best to drag his side back into the contest with two very well taken scores. Scoil Oilibheir Naofa responded in style when Liam Hester set up Sean Roturier for the eventual winners' third goal. Despite the best efforts of Murray and Bohermeen late on, Scoil Oilibheir Naofa closed out the game well.
