Arrest following lengthy situation in Navan estate

A young male of teenage years was arrested and detained under provisions of Section 12 of the Mental Health Act, 2001, following a situation in Navan today.

Gardai and emergency services, including the Armed Response Unit, attended the scene of an incident at a business property at Blackcastle Lodge off Flower Hill.

An area of the estate was cordoned off around 9am as residents became aware of an ongoing incident on a quiet bank holiday Monday morning with the arrival of the large number of gardai. A wider area was subsequently taped off as the emergency services dealt with the situation.

The incident was resolved this afternoon and the services stood down just after 2pm. Investigations are ongoing.
