Dunboyne-Maynooth road closure to facilitate water network upgrade

Uisce Éireann is advising road users of an upcoming closure at the L1013 Dunboyne Road as part of essential works to deliver the Maynooth Water Network Upgrade Project.

To facilitate the safe delivery of pipelaying works, the L1013 Dunboyne Road will be closed from its junction with the R157 Roundabout to the junction with Linden Drive from Tuesday, 28th October to Saturday, 1st November. Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted with emergency and local access maintained throughout the closure period.

Commenting on the works, Uisce Éireann’s Donal O’Connor said: “We understand that road closures can be disruptive, and we thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation while we deliver these essential works. This project will bring long-term benefits for the community, supporting housing delivery and economic growth.”

Delivered under Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development Programme, the Maynooth Water Network Upgrade represents a €2 million investment to deliver 1km of new water mains to increase the supply capacity of the water network. The works are being delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Coffey Construction.

Works commenced in late August, with 700m of water mains installed to date. Construction works are planned for completion by the end of the year, with permanent reinstatement works planned for early 2026, pending suitable weather conditions.
