Masterson's appointment another honour in a distinguished refereeing career
Highly regarded Kildalkey referee Stephen Masterson will take charge of the Senior Hurling final replay between Ratoath and Kiltale at Pairc Tailteann on Saturday, 3pm.
HIs appointment to the big game is further recognition of his talents as a match official.
Masterson took charge last weekend's Intermediate decider between Kilskyre/Moylagh and Rathmolyon with his sensible approach helping to ensure the game was among the best of the year.
The same day Kildalkey, managed by Nick Fitzgerald, won the IHC B final defeating Wolfe Tones, 2-14 to 1-11 in what was a certain-raiser to the IHC showdown.
Masterson works for Fitzgerald's company, IIS Space.
This will be Masterson's second senior hurling final. He previously took charge of the 2022 SHC clash between Trim and Ratoath. It was a game won by Trim, 1-13 to 1-10 and was a highly entertaining affair.
He has also taken charge of three IHC finals including last Saturday's decider that Kilskyre/Moylagh won, 2-14 to 0-12.
A referee since 2011, Masterson also won a JHC medal as a goalkeeper with his club Kildalkey.
