Planning permission sought for third phase of Ashbourne housing scheme

A PLANNING application for the third phase of a major housing development that is currently under construction at Baltrasna, Ashbourne, has been lodged with Meath County Council.

Arnub Limited is seeking permission for 233 residential units on a 5.8 hectares site in the townland of Baltrasna. The site is bounded by the Dublin Road and 'the Briars' to the east, by the previously permitted development (phase one and two) under construction to the north with existing dwellings to the south and agricultural lands to the west.

The 233 homes are a mix of terraced and semi-detached houses, duplexes and apartments, ranging in height from two to three storeys, consisting of 19 two-bed apartments and 19 three-bed duplexes in four three-storey buildings, each with private patios/terraces or balconies are provided for all duplexes and apartments; 195 two-storey houses consisting of 164 three-bedroom houses, 10 four-bedroom houses and 21 five-bedroom houses. There will be 7,613sqm of public open space 323sqm of community open space, 431 car parking spaces and 496 bicycle parking spaces.

To make way for the development a single storey dwelling and associated outbuildings, accessed from Hickey's Lane, are to be demolished. Vehicular access to the proposed development is from the access point from Cherry Lane, located off the Dublin Road (R135) via internal roads and footpaths previously permitted and now under construction.

A separate pedestrian and cyclist access is proposed from Hickey’s Lane.
