Chalk Talk: St Mary’s celebrates SNA Appreciation Day
St Mary’s Special School, Navan, marked a very special occasion recently with SNA Appreciation Day, honouring the incredible work of its 43 dedicated Special Needs Assistants (the largest allocation of SNAs in the county) along with the substitute SNAs who step in to support students whenever needed.
The day was filled with heartfelt gestures from across the school community. The SNAs were treated to a cooked breakfast and cheese boards, while teachers baked a wide selection of homemade treats to add to the celebrations. St Mary’s teacher team also prepared tokens of appreciation for each SNA, ensuring everyone felt valued.
Adding a personal touch, caretaker Pat baked fresh scones for the occasion, while senior students Eric and Troy helped distribute the gifts, personally thanking each SNA for their dedication.
Principal Maria Corredor said the celebration was a way of recognising the huge contribution SNAs make to school life:
“Our SNAs go above and beyond every day to support our students and staff. They are an integral part of the St Mary’s family, and we are truly grateful for their hard work and care.”
The event was a wonderful reminder of the teamwork, generosity, and community spirit that make St Mary’s such a special place.
