Chalk Talk: Kells students plough on with TY adventure

Transition Year students from St Ciaran’s Community School, Kells, enjoyed a school excursion with a difference this week, travelling to Co Offaly to attend the National Ploughing Championships.

For many students, it was a chance to see farming and rural enterprise up close and to learn about the career opportunities available in agriculture, agri-business, and related industries. Teachers noted the students’ enthusiasm and curiosity as they engaged with exhibitors, tried hands-on demonstrations, and took in the scale and excitement of one of Ireland’s largest outdoor events.

The trip was not only educational but also offered a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy the outdoors, and make memorable learning experiences as part of their Transition Year experience.
