Returned for trial on threat to woman charges

A 49 year-old man from Navan accused of making a threat to kill or cause serious harm to a female, was sent forward to the next sitting of Trim Circuit Criminal Court.

Denis Farrell, with an address at The Court, Athlumney Abbey, Navan is also accused on the same date, 13th February last at Taylor’s Bar and Restaurant, Johnstown, Navan with having a knife.

He appeared before Trim District Court, where Garda Niall McIntryre, Navan, told that he served the accused with a copy of the book of evidence that day.

The Garda said the DPP consented to the accused being sent forward for trial on the charges or for sentence on a signed plea of guilty. Judge Eirinn McKiernan made a section 56 order for the defence team to receive production of copies of interview. She fixed bail on which she remanded the accused to the sitting of the higher court on 21st October next. She granted him legal aid, assigning solicitor Maurice Regan and one counsel.
